Nelson J. Heckel, 58 of Lambertville, MI, passed away Friday morning, October 3, 2014, in The Toledo Hospital surrounded by loved ones. After an 11 year battle with diabetes and its co morbidities.   Our heavenly father took him home, freeing him of all his pain and suffering. Born August 26, 1956, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Jay Nelson and Lorrine Ann (Lucas) Heckel.  A 1974 graduate of Bedford High School, he served his country in the U.S. Navy for 10 years.  He married Kathryn Hotaling on July 16, 1982 in St. Hedwig Catholic Church and was then blessed with 5 loving children. He was employed by Michael Reality for almost 25 years, retiring in 2007 due to compromised health. Nelson had a great affinity and passion for music and took extreme pride in his extensive vinyl collection which he had accumulated throughout the duration of his life. Music brighten his world. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay and sister, Laura Heckel. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn of 32 years. 5 children; Sean, Rhiannon, Kyle, Kayleigh and Cody Heckel. He is also survived by his Mother and step-father, Lorrine and Robert Tyson.  Siblings; Janet, Stephen, Kathryn, Michael, Mary, Paul, Brenda, Donald and Andrea, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Visitation will be Saturday, October  11, 2014, at 9:00 am at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH 43613, where a memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 am.
